Janice Rentz Artist
Artist Bio
The major portion of Janice Rentz’s painterly work has been completed within the past 10 years. Before that time, her work consisted of commissioned pen and ink drawings of homes. Her background in education includes a BFA degree in art from Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia.
Subsequently, Janice completed additional education courses which led to a 14 year career as an art teacher in the Dougherty County School System. Choosing to teach art privately, Janice ended teaching in the public school system in 2003.
Having made art in a primarily realist manner, she is presently intent upon developing more abstract compositions. This endeavor is being accomplished through workshops taught by other instructors, college classes and personal studies. Her thinking on being taught by others is that she should always be learning because it will enhance her own work.
Because of her faith, God through Christ has a significant influence on the themes of her work as has been exemplified in the Old Testament covenant series and more recently in the New Testament mixed media pieces.
